The Throwdown

Alright guys. It's been a crazy couple of weeks, in my head. I wanted to work on some posts for Halloween but, I just couldn't find it in my power to lie about ghosts and monsters, it's Just not possible. There are some mysterious fears however, that we experience at a more personal level and that shit is scarier than anything Halloween can bring.

I mean, I know it's supposed to be fun and stuff but I just couldn't get into the spirit this year. Really because I've been doing a lot of reading and finding out that those well respected authors that the world relied on in the past aren't reliable anymore. I'm finding this out by myself first hand and it's disheartening! Like a few weeks ago, I was talking about George Washington about the time that I started reading Washington Irving's 'Life of George Washington', hoping I'd get into it, only to learn that he fabricated the information on C. Columbus (the subject of one of my favorite rants), meaning that most of the stuff we know now was his fault! Now what am I supposed to think of this dude? I'd throw a kindle across the room but, you really can't do that now can you!

Oh, well then be my guest moneybags!

Instead, I've been analyzing that stuff and trying to find better footing around what those mysteries are and I seem to be getting somewhere, at least enough to satisfy my curiosity.

So, that's my excuse for being behind on things. I still have until the beginning of the new year to get everything ready to go so, the 'zine-thing' is coming, if you have any interest in that at all.

It's gonna be cool I swear.

For anyone who has any interest in what's going on in Texas, I've started writing some new posts on my survival journalism blog, which you'll find the link to at the very top of the page for the Texas Election. I'm basically rounding up information on the candidates and primaries throughout the week with additional editorial content from some guest writers.

Most third parties hardly get any coverage at all and I want to do my part and shine the light on those other people who are campaigning too. It's already starting to get 'harry' over here and early too! We've already started getting attention from some of the candidates directly so we'll try to stay on top of it the best we can.

November

Alright guys. Allow me to direct your attention to the badge to the right of the screen. Not only is this National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), it's also National Blog Post Month (NaBloPoMo). This is where you take a daily topic based on a monthly theme and create a post on your blog. You then add your post to the blog roll on their site so that everyone can visit your post to see what you've written. It's a big deal for bloggers and gets you into the discipline of posting and writing daily.

NaBloPoMo is every month and all year around so you'll always have something to post about to keep things interesting as well as getting to meet other bloggers. Give it a shot and see if you can keep up.

If you register for the challenge by November the 5th (Guy Fawkes Day) then you're entered in a contest to win an ipad mini, if you want one of those at all. Here's the link for the details.

I'm also taking part in the NaNoWriMo challenge to complete the first draft of my novel so, there's tons of writing happening so now that we're all caught up... let's polish this turd!

*pant... wheez

Today's prompt:

"If you found one million dollars in the morning and had to spend it by nightfall, what would you do with the money?"

A: Well, seeing that money is more scarce these days, I would buy a house. Then, I would find some way to invest wisely and earn interest off the money to live off of for as long as I could to pay bills and eat while I continued to work on my creative projects. This would mean that I would be able to travel, and still have a home that I can come to.

Let me also add that because of the recent FRONTLINE special called 'The Retirement Gamble', I would (I repeat) invest wisely, to make sure I didn't get fucked over.
