I didn’t know David Adam Williams — better known to most as Adam the Woo. I only learned about his passing through Retro Rest Stop’s recent vlog, and even he had to call around to confirm the rumors he had heard, despite their friendship and shared life as creators.

That delay alone says something about how unexpected and disorienting this loss feels within the YouTube community.

As I searched for more information, I realized just how far Adam’s reach extended. He wasn’t just a niche creator; he was someone whose work resonated widely enough that even Entertainment Tonight covered his passing.

Reports say that a welfare check was attempted, and later, someone who cared enough to try again discovered him. As of now, the cause of death remains unknown.

What struck me most was his final video — posted just days before Christmas — where he spent the holiday with the Orlando Grinch.

The final video is them driving around in a cart during Celebration Florida, doing hilarious bits, meeting and greeting the people.

It’s a cheerful, lighthearted vlog, full of the kind of simple joy that made his channel what it was. But the ending lands differently now.

The final parts of the video have them looking at Christmas decorated homes before they end up at Adam's house, where he has a life size Grinch on the porch. What ensues is a hilarious dressing down of the decorations that only a Grinch can do.

Adam's final sign off is: “Thanks for watching, I’ll see you in the next video of the vlog. It’s over.”

There’s something haunting and tender about that. A vlogger saying goodbye in a YouTube video, not knowing it would be the last time.

I didn’t know Adam the Woo personally, but I can see why so many people felt like they did. His curiosity, his wanderer’s spirit, and his willingness to bring viewers along made the world feel a little more accessible, a little more interesting. Losing someone like that — someone who quietly stitched together a community through shared adventures — has left a real gap.

May he be remembered for the joy he sparked, the places he brought us, and the way he made the ordinary feel worth exploring.
