I just finished reading an article by a local journalist, who attempts to explain how she senses the very real threat of fearing the police, and how distant she is from it all since she's not black.
I think she needed to say it. Obviously she had to, and I felt it was a pretty powerful because she reflected on it by acknowledging that there is something very real to worry about even though it would never happen to her. But that's just it, she can chose to keep away from it if she wants to while the rest of us have to wait for others and society to change so we can get there too.
Now that we've seen all this shit go down, what are we to do? The Dallas district attorney Craig Watkins has already said he would form a unit to start investigating the police force (It took a murder, police aggression and determined citizens for cities to 'short leash' their cops)
