If you think about it, next to the seventies, this new generation might be the first generation that doesn't have a Star Trek series to lean on.

The eighties had the movies, which I think counts for something.

I'm actually pretty lucky to have not just one Star Trek series to watch but to be of a generation that had quite a few before everything went silent.

The new movies gave me an opportunity to watch them all over again with my nephew, who's shown some interest in it.

It's that interest that makes it look like he's willing but sometimes the drag of those older movies make me feel like I'm putting him through hell.

Leave it to me to piss off the purists.

My dad grew up on the original series and he even says that they were cheesy, but you can't just dismiss that stuff by saying it's for the kids.

Initially, kid's stuff is entirely created by adults.

Why do you think the story line to the movie "Big" was so new?

Through trial and error, society has learned how to make a good Star Trek movie and you can see that with "The Search for Spock", when the producers were still in that trial and error phase. (
