Time to talk about my biggest passion... and NO, I don't mean porn, but good job you were close!
This is gonna be a long one so if you hate reading you're up shit creek homie! This is only gonna sting for a second cause I gotta disrant real quick.People have been shitting out their mouths too much these days, and I'd like to blend in cause that's what old people do, they fall asleep. These days there's a dickhead around every corner, following America's crybaby trend that's sweeping the nation. The pussy-troll is out here in full bubble wrap-suit following suit in line at the meat-grinder corporation, just waiting for you to acknowledge them so they have an excuse to just shit on bands or music of other genres. There are some people who love the smell of their own feces that permeateowout into my snout and melts my olfactory receptors (smell antennas) every damn time.
Most of these people live in denial, the rest live their delusion that anything and everything that isn't metal is camel drool dripping slowly, smothering a shitty diaper dookie. I think I've read somewhere once and saw them labelled as 'Metal elitists' and thought, "Fuck you! Would I be considered one because I can be picky on certain sub-genres?" Fuck, I don't know man you tell me! I listen to so much shit, people are always confused because they have never heard it before. Most times they like it but a lot of times it's not even a style of music they listen to. These metal-heads who live in a delusion; some aren't that bad, always scream the same thing. "IF ITS NOT METAL IT FUCKING SUCKS" or my favorite, "THIS IS PUSSY MUSIC!". I know you've seen the meme with that shock pop star on stage and it says, "This is why we listen to metal!" That's not the fuck why "we" listen to metal. That's why YOU listen to metal! That's where I know I am not one of them, what a relief! lol
VILE DISPLAY OF HUMANITY'S ALBUM IS A VIBRANT DISPLAY OF ANGST
Most metal-heads like me, are music fans. We have a love for music. It's part of our lives. Music can relate to your everyday situations or throw you into Lalaland like the great and late Ronnie James Dio or the man of terror him self, King Diamond. One of my favorites, the Clive Barker of Black-power-metal, one of the few high pitched vocalists. King Diamond writes concept albums that when you read the lyrics all together in order they make for a good mini horror graphic novel. Some of his albums even have sequels, prequels, 3's and 4's too. My favorite of his albums was after his Merciful Fate days, The House Of God, one of his most perfect albums. The musicianship was great and amazingly creepy along with a cool twisted story.

I'm a huge fan of riffs and guitar solos so when there is a riff master like Kirk Winstein of Crowbar tearing up the ground you feel like a fucking 200-ft Godzilla!
A lot of bands are keeping this part of metal alive and well, by respecting the roots and just doing what they love, creating music. That's always my goal, give me something to fuckin jam to and Ill write all over that shit and take it to the stage and see if it moves people like it moves me. These days people are listening to a barrage of clutter of every genre even doo-wop. yup, it's out there. Eventually though those bands will burn themselves out and end up filtering into a style until they either get too old to keep it up or they make no more money and think of something else to do in life.
CRITICS ARE WORTHLESS BITTER ASSHOLES
People criticize bands for changing and they criticize bands for not changing, like really? You fucking hypocrites, really? New bands are still molding themselves into whatever mold they prefer and stick with that style either to keep a certain audience or a number of audiences.
Metal sheds its skin, the fans are like the cells, they come and go, the old fans lose interest in bands that changed and go listen to other stuff while the bands new sound attracts new moths to the flame. You guys get all worked up but you know what dude? That new shits not for you, they are just doing what they want and showing more personal roots type music and just create. Then these people bitch about bands that wont change, saying they are just riding their hey day albums and remaking them over and over. Man shut up, they are just creating music in the style they know they are good at and will never get tired of, those fans from the old days are still there because they still love that genre and style. Not that many people 'grow' out of music, especially metalheads, most of us are Lifers. If a new band came along that sounded like Slayer people will love it.
One thing about metal music it that it will always have a huge underground following, the best fans to ever have because they live deep in the ventricles of metals heart like a bloody engine built like a tank, combat ready heavy metal fans.
acknowledged
by the mainstream, it will always be outweighed by the underground scene like an iceberg. What you see at the top are the few and the proud who made it that far, that's
how good they were, some of them sold out andthat's
fine they got the numbers they wanted.CHECK OUT OUR MUSIC REVIEWS!
I'm
just gonna throw some recommendations your way of, not just underground bands but overlooked songs and albums.I'm
doing this because I am tried of seeing people when asked their favorite bands and songs they have the same answers as everyone else. Like every band has like these 3 to 5 songs that get forever praised and people whodon't
listen to metal only hang on those songs to define metal and never explore it.Not exactly a huge deal because I love those songs too! They fucking rip, but there is more to these bands than their 'hits'.Real music fans love albums, we dissect everything and absorb it.
MOVIN' ON! Since I am a horror fan, since the age of 5 or 6, I love dark and creepy anything done right and King Diamond is like the Marilyn Manson of Black Metal. I just love this horror themed concept album approach.
One of the sickest albums is House Of God. The music alone can paint a picture in your head and then vocally King just scares the shit out of you while telling a horrific story. The Trees Have Eyes is the first part of the story that leads a man into a hellish situation.
One of the main bands to drag heavy metal AND thrash from the depths of the underground like no one else could is Metallica, no fuck you they need respect and they were also right when they fought Napster so they deserve an apology too you metal fucks. My favorite stuff will always be their Kill'em all album but I want to blast The Shortest Straw around my neighborhood. That song is a beast and has an insane guitar solo that no one thanks Kirk Hammett for writing it, go ahead say it, thank you Kirk, you kick ass for us and we love you...SLAYER...Another cool band is a doom metal band, Nevermore with a very unique vocalist that has a degree in off notes that sound so badass! Believe In Nothing, doesn't
display those off notes much but in good taste to just write a badass song, ya know?Anything Piñata Protest, just throw a block party and let them take over the stage and show you what Texano-punk is all about!

When it comes to the underground there are so many bands to choose from like Testament- Souls of black, Exodus- A lesson in violence (live reunion album), Iced Earth- Horror show, Solitude Aeturnus and anything Sepultura with original vocalist Max Cavalara. Thrash thrives in almost every metal band especially death metal, even punk took to incorperating thrash and it was epic too. Bands like Casualties or Anti-Flag. Thrash always has a home among metal-heads. Bands like Sodom, Wrathchild America, Kreator, Grave Digger. And thrashy power-metal bands like Manowar and Helloween and EARLY Anthrax, Stratovarious, Steel Prophet.
Angel Witch is one most people don't know, songs like Waltz the Night or Fear of The Dark, they were as good as Iron Maiden and Judas Priest but just didn't stick around, they still play shows every once in a while though and it would be sick to see them just once.Kreator with Phantom Antichrist, another overlooked band most of my friends never heard of,lol.Twisted Sister with Under The Blade and Run For Your Life.
Dio with Shame on the Night and Throw Away Children.
All I'm saying is that if you like a song don't be afraid to explore a bands whole selection, that one song got your attention for a reason so you should appreciate that and go jam balls out and have a nice fucking life.[Image by Joe Diaz via Flickr | CC BY-SA 2.0]
