“Democratic Senators Regret Confirming Kristi Noem as DHS Chief: ‘I Definitely Wouldn’t Vote for Her Today’”
Buyer's Remorse From Democratic Senators Voted For Kristi Noem
Months into Trump's second term, the view that MAGAts had buyer's remorse is impossible when you know what you're getting.
It's easier to believe it when it's coming from the Senate.
Days after Trump was confirmed, seven commonsense lawmakers decided to vote for someone destined to do irreparable damage to a working system with Kristi Noem.
In fact, this being his second time in the Oval Office, everyone knows that any one Trump picks is going to be bad and Noem has turned out to be among the worst of the worse.
Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.):
"I'm very disappointed. I'm very disappointed in her. If I were voting on her today, I definitely wouldn't vote for her."
Sen. Andy Kim (D-N.J.):
"She's weaponizing the Department of Homeland Security. She is taking so many actions right now that are making us less safe and going against a lot of the things that she said that she was going to focus on. So, I have no confidence in her leadership right now."
The rest of the lot include Senators Elissa Slotkin (D-Mi):
"She has, frankly, not been in much control of policy. I see her more as a bystander, often, to policy — especially what's going on right now. And you know, we've been urging our committee to take more accountability on her."
Gary Peters (D-Mi):
"I'm the ranking member on the committee, and I have to have a working relationship with the secretary, regardless of the positions that they take And so far we've, we've been able to have that."
It seems as the responses just seem to get worse as we go through these senators, we come to the end with Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.) and Jeanne Shaheen's (D-N.H.) who didn't even comment themselves. Instead, their offices released statements on their behalf.
For Senator Hassan, spokesperson Sahil Mehrotra said:
"Senator Hassan has serious concerns about some of the Department of Homeland Security’s recent actions and continues to press for more answers and oversight — including into Senator Padilla’s treatment last week."
Senator Shaheen's spokesperson Brendan Duff said:
“Senator Shaheen has been disappointed by the Secretary’s tenure heading the Department of Homeland Security and remains concerned by her leadership of the agency thus far, including her severe lack of transparency. She intends to continue demanding answers and holding the Department accountable.”
Sen. John Fetterman (D-Penn), has recently embraced MAGA by attacking his own party, so naturally, neither he nor his office responded when asked the same thing.
DHS Secretary Recovered From Allergic Reaction
Noem was hospitalized this Tuesday over an allergic reaction.
It was reported on Monday that Noem visited a biohazard lab the day before but there's nothing to confirm that was the cause of the reaction.
DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement:
"Secretary Noem had an allergic reaction today. She was transported to the hospital out of an abundance of caution. She is alert and recovering."
Being familiar with MAGAt's penchant for fabrication and lies, it's unknown if Kristi Noem's allergic reaction is true.
McLaughlin appeared on PBS Newshour Wednesday night updating Noem's condition only to double-down on DHS' draconian methods to arrest anyone they consider a criminal and attacking the media.
When asked about the research done on the amount of people they've arrested not being criminals, McLaughlin did as MAGAts do and attacked The Guardian and PBS NewsHour.
This is to be expected when the press holds Trump's cabinet of MAGAts accountable for their corruption.
While it's weird seeing someone who looks so wholesome turn out to be so detestable, you can always bet that anyone who works for any member of Trump's staff are just as horrible as they are.
Kristi Noem Has Senator Padilla Forced Out Of News Conference
It's common for representatives to act dramatically in front of cameras in order to send a message.
Both sides are complicit in this act, however, Kristi Noem responded to Senator Padilla's detainment during her news conference on X that she met with him for 15 minutes afterwards.
"After he interrupted our press conference with law enforcement, I met with Senator Padilla for 15 minutes. We probably disagree on 90% of the topics be we agreed to exchange phone numbers and we will continue to talk—that is the way it should be in this country. I wish he would've acted that way in the beginning rather than create a scene."
You get the sense of her being reasonable in the beginning of her post but then, as MAGAts do, she takes a shot in his direction as if to say, "fuck you," when she says he was creating a scene.
Padilla denies that he was trying to create a "viral" environment, feeling that he needed to speak up after Noem said that the city of Los Angeles needed to be liberated from their Governor and Mayor.
